Title: Poly-L-lactic acid body bioplasty

Abstract

Introduction: Aesthetic remodeling using bioplasty can restore, shape or modify the human body. Materials that can be used include poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) for its ability to stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen through a controlled inflammatory process. The new collagen reverses skin laxity with increased skin volume in any part of the anatomy. The aim of this work is to learn about PLLA treatment in different applications such as the atrophy of fatty tissue that occurs after repeated injections in one area, the modelling of the gluteal area and other anatomical areas of the body contour.

Material and method: It is recommended to add sterile water to the powder of PLLA as IFU. The infiltration should be done in the subcutaneous tissue or on the supraperiosteal plane, always in fat and never intradermal. PLLA can be applied on the face except on mucous membranes, lips, and dark circles. Other body areas, with or without atrophy, such as buttocks, inner arms and legs, hands, and abdomen, can also be infiltrated. In this study 143 patients have been treated in various locations with some of the products described.

Results: The results of the PLLA treatment have achieved a high degree of satisfaction; 75% in patients treated for patellar flaccidity, up to 85% in those treated for buttock and arm flaccidity.

Conclusions: PLLA has been shown to be very effective in treating atrophy of the compartments, firming and plumping the skin in different areas of the body. Good results are highly dependent on the practitioner who
applies it, requiring adequate training to avoid the appearance of adverse events.
