Presentation Title:

Correction of the zygomatic area in orthognatic procedures

Abstract

Purpose of the research is to evaluate the dynamics of bone structure changes in the zygomatic bones and arches during the operation of reduction and augmentation malarplasty. Additionally, to assess soft tissue changes in the surgical area associated with the bone structure displacement. The study included 16 patients, of whom 9 underwent zygomatic augmentation and 7 underwent reduction. 7 reference points were selected to measure postoperative and long-term displacement of the zygoma and soft tissues. Conclusions: Augmentation malarplasty significantly increases volume in the anterolateral zygomatic region while having minimal effect on the posterior region. Reduction malarplasty provides uniform volume reduction across the entire zygomatic area.
